Balea Ice Hotel

Pro: Keep in mind that this is a hotel made of ice, so the amenities can be a little different than you expect. They gave us a normal room inside the chalet, to take a shower and leave our bags. There’s a very good restaurant there also. We bought a wine there to drink inside our ice room. In the ice room you sleep in sleeping bags, still a little bit cold and wet, but you will survive and experience is still very interesting.

Contra: To reach the hotel you need to take a cable car, and I think the last one was around 5pm or something like that. We almost missed it. The ice bar was close, maybe because there wasn’t many guests back on that day. The main hotel closes around 9pm, so if you need to use the restroom after that you need to walk until the cable car, which can be not so cool if is very cold. But those are only details if you want to have this experience!

Pro: Andre received us upon arrival and gave a good introduction to the place and how things were to work. We stayed in the igloo which is more expensive but was worth it if you'd like a quiet night away from the restaurant/bar.

Contra: Food is on the expensive side as is the accommodation but I guess you are paying of the experience of sleeping in an igloo.

Pro: The location on the mountain.

Contra: Cable car should be included in the price as you are paying quite a bit to stay at the Ice Hotel.

Pro: Extraordinary ice sculptures, good ideas implemented in a perfect way, it is an experience one must have at least once in a lifetime. I recommend 3 layers to stay warm, even in the sleeping bag provided, and a ski hood is needed for the head.

Contra: At least a coffee could've been included in the morning, the 4 course dinner price for 2 in the ice restaurant was more expensive than the room, an alternate, cheaper meal would've been acceptable.

Pro: Novel experience and really lovely staff! The weather the morning after was beautiful and the view was spectacular.

Contra: There was an odd smell-?from the kitchen

Pro: When the sun is shining, the ice hotel is perfectly nestled among the mountains with an amazing view. It’s an amazing location to spend the night and you can find everything you need at the cabin nearby. We opted to eat in the ice hotel and the food was delicious. There isn’t much to do when the weather turns however we had a go at snow rafting which was lots of fun! We’d definitely recommend a night here!

Pro: A stay at the Ice Hotel is a unique experience that I would recommend and do again. Andrei, the Manager was so helpful, he contacted us during the day to find out when we would check in.. we were running late, having taken the wrong route. The cable car was due to close at five..this is due to safety etc. . Andrei and the cable car team were brilliant and waited for us an extra 30 minutes, so we didn't miss out on our stay.. Andrei and his team were friendly and welcoming, the food was great and beautifully presented. The setting and views are spectacular at Balea Lac. . We had a warm and comfy nights sleep cocooned in sleeping bags in our unique room. Thank you Andrei and your lovely team for making our stay with you special. It was clear a lot of work goes into delivering this experience.

Contra: I loved it all. However, I know some reviews have mentioned the toilet facilities... Yes, it is a bit tricky if you need the loo in the night, as you have to get out of your sleeping bag, get wrapped up and walk to the cable car station to use the loo.. But, its right next to the Ice hotel and is just something to be aware of, not worth missing the experience for!

Pro: The landscape and the experience. The lady host is extremely friendly and a nice person to talk to. She told us how the hotel is made every year and other great stories.

Contra: Nobody comes to this hotel for the comfort / amenities, so there is nothing to complain about. This hotel is all about a nice "frozen" experience. Beware tho, that the only way to get to the hotel is with the teleferic and they only run with a minimum of 10 people. You might wait several time for other guests to join at the teleferic.

Pro: Hotelul de gheata și serviciile.

Contra: A fost totul perfect !

Contra: الاصطفاف لفترة طويلة على cable car مع وجود اوليه لسكان الفندق ارجو توضيح ذلك في الحجز اضافة بعض المأكولات مثل pizza
