Building a guesthouse came to us in 2004 when the family purchased a run down building in the center of Saint George. The preparation lasted 4 years until finally in the summer of 2007 we started off with 5 rooms. Later on, in 2009 and 2012 we managed to double the number of our rooms. As the property grew we had to combine new with old. This is how, although serving with the same comfort, part of the rooms are in a 19th century building and part of them in a new one. Giving "the child" a name was not easy. The multicultural background of the geographical area didn't make it easier at all. As the building where the guesthouse is situated was once a hotel using the original owner's name, Blasko, seemed the right choice. At the end family ruled above history and the place was named after our Grandfather, Ferdinand POTH, who has been a free spirit and traveler. At the Ferdinand guesthouse we also serve breakfast where local products and self made things make up the spine of the day's main meal.
We are a friend of traveling, but this doesn't have to be thousands of kilometers. Cycling around the region or simply hiking in our mountains suits us perfectly. Our family sport is skiing. Being a fan of sports we are very proud of our cousin Robert POTH, the grandson of Ferdinand POTH after whom the guesthouse is named. Robert is a talented skier who wins British and other competitions in a row. Beside this guesthouse we are working on the reconstruction of an old water mill in Bolon where we would like to welcome guests in the near future.
The Ferdinand guesthouse is right in the center of Saint George only a few steps away of the town's institutions and most of the pubs and restaurants. After arrival you don't have to drive to find a nice place to relax or to taste the local cuisine. Everything is at your hand, around us. Saint George boasts with several precious buildings of the 19th century and a nationwide known cultural life through its theaters, museums and the activity of cultural associations. What to see: • Sekler National Museum (ethnographic and historical museum) • Fortified Reformed Church • MAGMA - Gallery of Contemporary Arts Where to relax: • Sports center (swimming pool, squash, bowling, aerobic, salt therapy) • Ski slopes (6 miles from town)
